Remove and replace the Starter with a new one, the Starter itself is the problem since the Bendix Drive is not disengaging.

    racecat Thanks this.

i believe you have 2 solenoids. one on the starter to kick the bendix out, another that control power to the starter. its the second solenoid that is stuck on.

What happens if you leave the positive wire (not the battery cables) disconnected from the starter solinoid? And then battery cables are hooked up ?do you have a meter to see if any leeds are hot?

Done so far , new solenoid on starter , new solenoid behind coolant tank, new batteries, had starter tested (good) tested battery cables and cleaned .
Just for the heck of it we put old solenoid back on behind coolant tank and truck started .
Driver finall told us that sometimes when he hit a hard bump the engine would die momentarily and restart , so we are now looking for a wire rubbed bare or loose connection etc. Thanka for all the replies.
