Do you need a cdl for a 25ft gooseneck and a dodge dually?

They end up in court and usually either plead Nolo Condendre (No contest, same as conviction) or are found guilty and charged with fines.
You can bet Arkansas takes a dim view of people too stupid to drive a truck without a CDL. And with the federal databases I would imagine your name will escalate to that list against you if you do get arrested for no CDL.
Now... with that said...
There are a extremely limited group that can drive a heavy truck such as Farm, Carnival etc it's extremely limited. I once witnessed a scared but grinning 8 year old in a transtar hauling a flatbed scrambler ride upgrade south west of Scranton PA in the rain on 81. THAT sparked a CB converstation that lasted into New England. What a day. We convoyed with him. Poor thing. At 8 I did not have that kind of balls yet. sheesh Im jealous. He did good actually. Real good on the downshifts high to low.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I think the weight rating is 26,000 and up for CDL heavy trucking plus airbrakes etc etc etc. But even a small car on up for HIRE in commercial hauling of any kind is a CDL job.
I don;t know how else to describe it. Your small pickup plus gooseneck trailer to me says hotshot class. Nothing wrong with that. You are probably going to be a CDL driver even if you own the thing.
The only exception would be to hauling your private stuff. I don't think you have that many suitcases in baggage to need one do you? ///Teasing. -
Why not just go down to your local motor vehicle branch and ask the question!

You do not need anything other than a regular class C to drive a truck under 26k with air brakes. I have owned three and currently own one truck with a 25999 GVWR and air brakes and my guys with regular class c drive it. They have been through scales, road side dot inspections, etc and never a problem.
As to the OP if the truck has a 33kGVWR you need a class B to drive it even if empty. The CDL requirement is triggered by actual weight or GVWR. Just because it weighs under 26k doesn't matter if the GVWR is over 26k a CDL is needed.
