That's just one. The other is a lose "watt meter" and high SWR's. Haven't you heard....that CB shop got me 75 watts out of my 29 Classic!!!

I knew a tech back in Conover NC, went by Triple R. Nice guy but a rip off CB tech. I was sitting at the yard getting ready to leave when I heard someone talking, it sounded funny so I searched em out. Turns out it was a guy who just had his 3300 HP tuned who was coming across both ch 23 and 13 at the SAME TIME! Yeah, I remember his on air add...@ watt key,150 watt swing out of any duel final radio!

The real hidden secret is crystal leakage, Back in the 60s, the other shop tech who worked with me would give me a call late at night on Ch 11 (local main channel at the time), and describe his latest performance tweak, which usually involved things like wrapping each crystal with electrical tape to prevent "crystal leakage". Then we'd watch and see how many rigs showed up for service with their crystals all taped up, or whatever the latest trick was.
