They use them on the pipeline jobs. The boys that move them use their pipe wagons that steer the axles with cables hooked to the front bolster.

Here are a couple of pics of the offld.
As you can see the jack stands are out. This is as far out as they go. So it makes backing under and pulling out fun. When backing under you need to be as square as you can be so the crane sets level on your deck. Also you need the boom up in the air for lding and unlding.
Seeing how there are no counter weights on the machine. Not having the boom up can make in to wanna take a nose dive. Not good. When we lded it, we put 2 1/2 in chains in the front and one on the back, before he lowered the boom.

Back at it, had a good week at home. Left the house dark 30 yesterday and bounced 1100 miles out here to Oswego, IL and loaded this up to take it 200+ miles over to Michigan. image.jpg

They are doing a road project on I35 just south of Des Moines. They had a bunch of them but I believe they are Cats. Anyway they have some with slightly smaller tired duals all the way around. Look kind of cool.

That would be neat, I haven't seen duels yet. K-Tec makes the scraper and they make hitches for all the rock trucks. We bought the volvos because the same dealer locally sells both. These volvos are full suspension they claim they pull the best.

    MJ1657 Thanks this.

John Deere also makes a scraper set up where you can actually pull two scraper trailers.
