Do most of you truck drivers, have a "big" change in miles from one week to the next or are there companies that are more stable?
My husband has been with his current company for two full years, the past several months the miles are terrible, to the point we are considering putting his resume out there? Before we do i wanted to ask around and see if this is the norm and or if there are any companies that are better with consistency?
We would appreciate any information you can share with us.
Thank you for your help!
how much is enough?

Back in June 2015 you were asked your location so drivers can recommend companies with more steady miles and paychecks. We can't offer help unless you put your location on your profile. It won't help to recommend a company then discover you're not in the hiring area.
What type trucking is he doing now and which company is it?MidWest_MacDaddy, Dominick253 and tucker Thank this. -
We are located in Southern California, he is with National transport, they have treated us very well other than the mileage issue, it has made things so rough for us that we now feel we must look for other options if it will benefit us. thanks again

Is National Transport the same as National Carriers "The Elite Fleet."
Lessors Inc.
Holland Enterprises Inc.
Dynamic Transit
@May Ann
Any of the 3 listed above should give you plenty of miles year round.Last edited: Aug 2, 2016

I used to get a consistent 3000 miles a week making two trips a month to California as a solo driver bringing produce back to Pennsylvania.

Rates do seem to be down in some sectors of trucking, so if your company is averse to taking any and every paying load or they have a higher bottom line, or if your hubby is unwilling to go to certain areas of the country OTR, then the miles may have dried up for any of those reasons.
truckthatpassesyouby Thanks this. -
He is out on the road 24/7 365 the only time in two years he asked for a day off was when his Aunt passed away. That is why we are both so frustrated he has a perfect driving record, and is there ready, willing, and able at all times, so there really is no reason to not leave this company enough is enough.I knew you all thwould help us to make this decision! thanksDominick253 and tlalokay Thank this.
