Stuck in a rut right now. I barely have 1.5 years experience. Have all my endorsements and have maybe like 3 months of OTR (when I first got my license). I've been local since.
I'm so set on making as much as I can, but just can't really seem to find what will beat my current income. Right now I'm doing about 750-850/wk AFTER taxes. All I can/ have done is dry Van. But wanna learn reefers and tanks. Any company suggestions? I'm here in the SoCal area.
What's going to pay me the most?

750-850 after taxes is not terrible (of course a lot depends on how many hours it took to make the 750-850.............)
Will discuss more when there is more time.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
Between 55-60+ hours a week

There's lots of talk about food service guys breaking their backs for 80-90k if you're in shape and willing to work
Gordon food service, Sysco, sygma, etc...Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Or one of the pizza chains, Martin Brower ( McDonalds ), etc.. They all do good. It's work, I don't think its that overwhelming, but they make some good coin too.
If you can get in the Local, you'll do better. -
Without having seen the rest of the thread, I'll agree that isn't bad.

IMO, that's not terrible for where I live, but it's probably as bad as it gets in SoCal.
When I had your level of experience, I got hired on with a company that does Northeast regional loads exclusively. My first year with them, I grossed a little more than $60k pulling dry van with a day cab, and spent only one night per week away from home. No weekend or night work unless I want it. My second year, I grossed a little more than $80k with them, and spent one night per week away from home from July through December. I didn't have to - it was my choice to do so. This year, I'm on target to match what I earned last year. I also have full benefits, including matched 401(k) contributions. I start work between 2 and 6am, and am home between 1 and 6pm on weekdays. Usually no more than 35 hours used out of my 70.
Look around, don't settle, and consider moving out of SoCal if you have to. I had to move from NC to PA, and be willing to do the things that other drivers refused to do (mainly fingerprint the loads) in order to be where I am now salary wise.
