Agent for a company!

A. Normal agent for a company might keep 5%.5 loads at a $1000 you would get $250 a day,not bad sitting on the phone in th AC.Talking crap to the receptionist.playing games on your phone.Some do it at home.

 

Having been an agent and having agents working for me I can assure you of one thing, it's not nearly as simple or easy as your making it sound. An agent that just sits on his ### talking crap to the receptionist and playing games on their phone will be a broke and unemployed agent in a matter of weeks.

I've also done it from home and from an office. From home sounds like the Valhalla of jobs, again I'll tell you it's not, there is no disconnect between home and work so you never really leave home/family/neighbors/friends behind when you go to work and the worst part, you never leave WORK to go home!

 

Didn't mean any disrespect I've never done it. i just knew what a agent is.A good salesman in any field can almost write his own check .

Sheesh, a off hand thought is to me we stand to lose our Country with these frigging progression of new laws...

If this keeps up no one will be able to do a #### thing without asking Uncle Sam may I? UGH! /rant

 

Oh trust me I didn't take it as any kind of disrespect. I just see a lot of people jumping into being freight agents thinking it's an easy paycheck only to find themselves broke and destitute a few weeks/months later. Even those with an established book find it very tough to change companies because a percentage of their book will not move for various reasons.

It takes years to build relationships with customers and the biggest part of the day is spent keeping those customers. One of my good customers was telling me the other day that she gets 20-25 unsolicited calls every day from carriers and brokers looking for freight. And I make calls all day long to prospective new customers only to be told 99% of the time that I'm the XX person to call today and please stop calling.
