When you buy the fuel you can run as fast as you want.
Your a company driver, get over it. Ask for more pay for not being able to run as many miles and see what they say.

Ok heres the flip side that no one has covered here. The companies slow down theyr trucks to 65 or 62, but then the company still expects theyr drivers to get from point A to point B in the same exact amount of time as they did at 70 or higher, doesnt work, then they dont undertand why the drivers are late with loads. the DMs who have never driven a truck dont understand the problem that they need to allow more time to get there now that the truck has been slowed down. This yet from companies who now also say you can not idle the truck to stay cool or warm to sleep, but they will not put a apu or any other device on the truck so theyr drivers can be comfortable to get a good nights sleep to be refreshed while driving. Plus not caring they just lost the drivers miles and pay from slowing a truck down beyond some states truck speed limits. But being sneaky and not telling the drivers they are slowing the trucks down would be like not telling houry paid employees they are cutting theyr pay and the employess not finding out till payday when checks are handed out, see how this all works? Hope so.

 

I will idle my truck when ever I want to stay comfortable if they do not like it here is your key and they can stick the truck up their Is that you bubba?
The other option is putting an apu on my truck so I do not have to idle.

 

Okay, I had to sign up just so I could respond to the original posters post. The original poster, who by the way disappeared just as fast as they appeared, posted about their ("Sneaky") company turning down his truck to 63 MPH without notice. Later stating that his company was NFI.

NFI does have several different divisions, NFInc (Vineland), Interactive Logistics Inc (Cherry Hill), NFI Interactive Logistics LLC (Cherry Hill) to name a few.

As a NFI driver of one of the Midwest dedicated accounts, all drivers at my terminal were given written notice that their trucks were being turned back to 63 MPH prior to it actually being done. We were told that it was directly related to the safety rating of NFInc Vineland.

The NFInc (ICC# 85840). Vineland had a bad DRSEA rating (Driver Safety Evaluation Area) of 81.46 which means that 81.46% of other carrier's drivers had a better safety rating then NFInc drivers. According to the FMCSA it needs to be 75% or lower to help get the green lights on your Prepass.

Our division, NFI Interactive Logistics (#695841), has a different ICC number with a great safety rating but unfortunately we still fell under company policy.

My truck shows 64 MPH on the speedo but GPS shows 62. If I couldn't deal with the slower truck I'd find something else to do because complaining isn't going to change the speed of the unit.

Just trying to help straighten out the facts.

PS... I didn't realize that the fonts were going to be so big, even for a older fella', but it looks like I can't go back & change the size via editing.

I'm glad you finally decided to sign up and join us. I see no reason why you shouldn't continue to post --- in whichever size font tickles your fancy. If your posted fonts appear too small, I can always zoom in. Or, lean a tad closer to the monitor screen.

 

Yanno Windows has a built-in magnifier, right? It's quite a nice tool instead of changing the text size in whichever browser tickles your fancy.

 

I know fuel prices are high and cost for everything is up. But to NOT have the respect to tell drivers up front, is just another way of saying "You don't matter, you're just a driver"

myminpins;378504I don't really think it's that big a deal. With prices as they are, I don't blame the companies for doing whatever they can to make every gallon of fuel go further.


This is what the trucking outfits like. People willing to give up even more time or get payed less to do the same job they did yesterday in their faster truck. And think it is no biggie

People, if a trucking outfit is paying you by the mile and now is making it so you take longer to transverse that mile, putting to brain cells together will tell you it is a pay cut, unless you are able to gain more miles or work longer hours.

The same company that just lowered your trucks speed will still fly around in that corporate jet and attend catered party's. So it seems to more about priority's. Do you think they will raise the speed If the price of fuel goes down? probably not, unless they need drivers real bad.


Many newbies don't know that when the hours of service rules changed. Most company's gave drivers a pay raise and turned up trucks because they knew that only having a set window to drive in would hurt the drivers pay. Now it seems they are slowly rolling back what they gave to retain drivers.

I have also talked to several drivers who have noticed that their company's are cheating them on accessorials, running the tires longer and taking short cuts on repairs that could lead to a road breakdown, further hurting a drivers income. One driver even told me their company takes the fourth battery out of the trucks to use for spares and puts trailer tires on the drives when one blows from being run down till there is nothing left.
