Any reason why my printer works from a standard wall outlet, but not my power inverter? 2500 watt cobra, runs an 800 watt microwave no problem. It's just a small portable Brother printer, the size of a very small duffel bag.
I'm guessing this might be the sine wave/modified sine wave issue?

Any way to make this work?

Yes, thank you. Worked fine at home. Threw in truck. Didn't print. Called tech support. Took printer and laptop in to the break room at shippers. Printed fine.

    Tech supports conclusion: power inverter.

Edit: I didn't THROW it in the truck. Before someone says anything. I gingerly placed it on the passenger seat.

I"ve been running a 140 watt inverter that plugs directly in to the cig socket. Bought from walmart. Have had no problems with laptop charging and printer printing. Hp also bought from bestbuy 6 years ago. Printer scanner.

It is because of one or another thing.

First it is them inverter itself, maybe too dirty of a signal on the power line.

Second it may be the printer power supply which can't take anything but a pure sine wave, which is caused by cheap sourcing on the part of the printer maker.

Either way there are two options, a good inverter with a pure sine wave or another printer.

    rabbiporkchop and DDlighttruck Thank this.
