Nice to see smaller companies offer training during the first 2 months like that .. It sounds like a well run outfit on the surface good luck and take your time learning it pays off in the long run

Do it the trainer's way, even if he says "stick your finger in your ear before signalling for a right turn." Don't resist the practice, do it unless it's dangerous or illegal. Resistance will come across as troublemaker. Afterwards have him explain why, ask questions, but don't suggest in any way you aren't going to always do that. When you are solo, do what is safe, legal, & company policy.
The quickest way into your own truck is showing the trainer you will do what is required of you. If his procedures don't make sense to you, but are not illegal, unsafe, against company policy, do them.
In your truck you are the only one that can protect your license. Protect your license. Doing what another driver did will not erase the consequences if it is wrong. You are the Captain of the ship with final authority after considering all inputs.
