I thought about doing that. Then I figure I went to all this trouble getting my coveralls on and a drain pan, what's an extra 5 minutes to drain and fill 6 litres of oil into my pickup?

 

Motor burns that much? LOL

 

I lie not, a couple weeks back in a truckstop, a guy asked me to show him where you put the oil in.
He seemed impressed that I knew.

 

LOL, sounds like a couple of places I have worked at!

 

In his defense, a couple of our trucks have hidden the oil fill tube behind crap and at the very top of the engine. One took me a good 5 minutes to find, and then I had to climb up on the tire to get to it. Likely why I had to add oil as no one else would bother... Didn't help it was dark outside and while lit shadows are a #####....

I think it's much more important that they are teachable than knowledgeable. Knowing you don't know is major step in the right direction. It's the guy who puts the wrong fluid in the wrong place without asking that scares me.
The guy who won't ask out of fear of being ridiculed is probably our fault.
I try not to put them down for being humble enough to ask.
The guy who asks is a blessing!

 

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that the OP didn't get the wave of support he was looking for.

 

Trucks aren't like cars you don't change oil every 3000 miles.
