That's WORSE than not leaving anything at all...........
Just reading that would want me to find this Witty Scumbag and Beat Him in front of 16 people. and Make sure these people all read the Note he left.
Then........I'd pull him by his Hair and Walk Him over to his House While I'm slapping him across his Head And Make his Spouse,Or immediate Family aware of what he did.texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
My first reaction would have been to get the cops out there to pull prints off the note, windshield wiper, and anything else he may have touched while attempting to appear to be doing the right thing. May not come back with anything...but anymore, a person's fingerprints stand a better chance than ever of being in the system. The note wipes away the "I didn't realize I hit him" excuse...they knew it, they knew what they were supposed to do, and they were intentional in their act of leaving the scene withoutleaving their info.

Yeah, good luck with that. Police aren't going to call in investigators and experts for a simple fender bender that they know the insurance company (someone's) is going to end up paying in the end anyway.
They'd fill out a police report (begrudgingly at that) and let you know you could pick it up in 3 days. Then they'd be on their wayBig Don, texasbbqbest, diesel drinker and 2 others Thank this. -
There was this one driver that as he was turning out of a Lowe's drop yard and stop at the guard gate the back of his trailer clipped my side mirror. Didn't do any damage just pushed it backed towards the door like they are designed to do when pushed backwards. He jumps out of his cab apologizing up a storm asking me not to report him and this is the only job he could get and he would be happy to pay for any damages. I just chuckled and said no harm no foul as I pushed the mirror back into place. He was so thankful he made me wonder what companies are telling their new drivers these days, one bump and your fired, that is no way to treat rookies.Getsinyourblood and bzinger Thank this.

It isn't just a "simple" fender bender. It is a hit & run. As long as nobody was injured, it is a misdemeanor on par with crimes such as aggravated assault, battery, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, criminal trespassing, etc.
And yes, they do investigate stuff like that. Even if all they do is pull the print and run it. Might be a frequent flyer who has had the TSA pre-screen background check done to get through airport security quicker? Maybe he's another truck driver and has (or has had) the Hazmat endorsement? Perhaps he's a dock worker with a TWIC? Military? CWP? So many ways these days to have your prints "in the system" it isn't even funny, even if you've never been caught on the wrong side of the law. -

Next time I hit someone I'm leaving a note and a McDonalds gift card instead of just driving off..bzinger Thanks this. -
Sorry man, no disrespect, but we see this different. A headlight, is absolutely a simple fender bendertexasbbqbest Thanks this.

It's a simple fender bender until you hightail it out of there...then it becomes a criminal act. Doesn't matter if you agree with that or not, it is what it is. You flee the scene, you have committed a crime. If you are caught, the penalties include incarceration and fines. Sure, it might not be a "top priority" with the cops...but if you leave prints behind, especially if your prints are in the system, it increases the likelihood of getting caught by making it easy. Cops love easy. Closes a case with minimal effort.

Yeah, like I said. We disagree. Respectfully of course. Lolbzinger Thanks this.
