You are right, i said trucks. I should have been more specific. Guess i figured everyone was smart enough to know that without the cat engine it's not a real cat. To me that's like buy a fiber glass ferrari body kit and bolting in a fiero driveline.
Fyi, cat does sell those exact same trucks with real cat engines. They just aren't allowed on the roads here.
What engine with DEF is having the least amount of problems?

Well yes, Cat did start offering gliders set up for 3406E and C15 engines......but now they don't offer any trucks. The Cat truck is no more.
And now the new International HX that replaced the Paystar uses the same dash and interior as the Cat truck. -

I have neighbors who started buying Paccar engines 3 years ago, first was a T 800 da6cab, then one of those with a small sleeper, and the last one a t880, guess they couldnt get a new T 800, they haul hoppers mostly so not sure of how many miles they are putting on them, but repeat business must mean they like them.
For Detroit, the DD has a non variable geometry turbo, not even wastegated, although the Evolution engine uses an asymmetric turbo.
Less complicated than what's on the rest.Notchpeak Thanks this. -

Anyway I priced it out and it was the exact same price as buying a new one when it was all said and done. But I didn't have a donor anyway. -
Cummins supplied the fix for the Maxxforce, converting it to SCR, and they have their own, obviously, now available in all domestically available makes, but advised not to idle, so if you have to idle, even for pto work, I would pick one of the others.
All advise against idling, but it's not always a choice.Notchpeak Thanks this. -
