Anyone know of any tricks to shut this thing up? It's abnormally loud!

Depending on what air drier you have, they make muffler kits.

If it is just loud in general, check your system pressures. It should stop pumping air around 125 psi. If it is pumping until 140 psi or higher, the air dryer will purger louder simply because of the increased pressure.

    JimmyWells and magoo68 Thank this.

I had one that would sound dang near like gun when it popped off. It made a couple of people jump when they walked by when it popped off, I kind of liked it.

usually air driyers got mufflers, but mufflers are usually dirty with moisture, and during the winter this moisture is frozen and they may be forced down with pressure and be lost on road.

In Europe it is not legal to use truck with lowd purge, but no one give u ticket for this so we use to ignore this noise,.... really it is better to know that driyer works well by its noisy purge.

    rachi and JimmyWells Thank this.
