I have three family members who work for them, two have been there for more than 3 years.
Recently, all 3 have had strange crap happening...not getting paid for trips (random, occasionally), having to wait ridiculous amounts of time for a load (while sitting out of state), and other things I'm not altogether comfortable posting in *case* they are not happening to a lot of other drivers.
But, my guys are good drivers with YEARS of experience, and they all say this is not Western's usual mode of operation, that something *must* be up or going wrong there.
Have any other drivers had problems recntly with Western or have you heard rumors of some problem there?
Thank you.
Anyone know what's up with Western Express?

OK...I guess no one want's to answer my question...or they are not having problems.
(I mean..c'mon...47 views and *no* replies??)
I thought this was a place to come to get info and the low down on various trucking companies.
My uncle, nephew, and son *can't* post because they don't have laptops right now.
Since I'm retired and have nothing *but* time, I thought I'd be pro-active and ask for info. -
they are still comeing into our yard kiddo.. kroger.. denver.. see them every morn. staged in the otr area. sorry i cant help but they are there..
-
they also drop trailers every day there. I talked to a driver today that is running Los angeles to denver and he is still footing the bill and getting paid.. hate to say this..but has the driver done something to get blackballed by dispatch

Patience is a virtue.
Not everybody is familiar with Western Express and/or what's going on with that company. Many folks who are considering entering the trucking industry use The Truckers' Report for research which could account for the number of views without any replies.

Many drivers are on the road for weeks at a time
Some with out computers
This is the place to be if your a trucker, but it takes time for drivers to check in and respond
Good luck -
Well, I'm talking about east of the Mississippi here....I don't know about the west cost/ Rockies area.(the Denver to LA thing)
I've heard they're also hiring & firing drivers on pretty much a daily basis...
And *3* I know drivers having problems?(I could see a "problem" with the dispatcher if it was just one)
I could see if the *one* was not getting paid for short hauls, or being left to sit for hours waiting for a load or not getting reimbursed for paying a lumper...but, all three?
And it isn't just my "rookie" son (I have 3 family members driving for them, see my original post), it's two other older men with the same stories in the last few months.
Oh, and a complete stranger....who's wife I met at church a while back.
She mentioned her husband worked for Western too, but things seem to have changed since the beginning of the year and he's going to a different company too.
It's just strange that the older two who have good records with Western suddenly have crap to deal with on a weekly basis...
As I said, i could see them "picking" on a relative rookie.
Oh, and I know patience is a virtue...
I'm just frustrated, and you really *can't* push the compay for answers if you want to keep you job.
Yes, they are looking to change companies, but, I still wonder -
I am not sure whats going on but I was at the Dallas truck show today and they have a booth there to recruit drivers. I hope you get the replies your looking for

The only thing I have found is Western Express was having trouble getting paid from Dollar General and i guess they are still fighting that but there is no record on file anywhere that show's Western Express is in trouble. There stocks are ok and there profit margin is ok and they are still doing good from what I can find. Hope thats what you are looking for.

Baack Thanks this. -
Veteran drivers eh? Here's another theory to throw into the mix; Many of the larger TL companies have the habit of running off their veterans when they start makin' money, gaining knowledge of the company etc.... Newbies work cheaper and ask less questions than those that have been around awhile. Most TL companies of any size prefer not having veteran drivers on their roster. Another hard reality of this industry.
