I just got back from GATS and that's what the reps at their display are telling everyone. A couple of them grabbed me and started their sales pitch and I said I thought they were in Ch 11 and they said it was all going to be taken care of and not to worry. OoooK.

I agree with your skepticism. With Wifi technology and laptops getting cheaper, cellphone carriers adding more towers and signal relays to boost signal, cellphone plans getting cheaper, and the availability of APU (auxiliary power unit) systems, the only way for IdleAire to increase their revenue is to get one of the giant carriers like Swift, JB, or Schneider to offer IdleAire as part of the driver benefit package for signing on with them.

I was thinking that if Idle aire went away what would become of all thoose units? So if everything is going to be taken care of???? Woul we have more open parking spaces? Most likley not I don't see any way parking woes could improve in the near future. No one is building any more truck stops, Cost to much for land and Hard to get thru planning commisions, not to menton EPA aproval. So no end in site for parking woes.

Don't lose hope yet. The service they are trying to sell is not worth the price. It will be gone in another year or so.

Well Another factor is the sales team all together... They were rude and didn't understand or didn't care that drivers can park in those spaces even if they don't use the service... Blocking spaces of with red cones or using barricades has giving them a bad rep in the truckers eye's.. You don't act that way towards a group of people that you are targeting in order to make a profit off of... They needed to be courteous and helpful.. They wasn't and it is coming back to them.. They relied on the service alone and that's not enough... They needed a decent sale policy... Being courteous to all, leaving spots open and heck far as I am concerned they could have girls on roller skates bringing us food to are windows... (some parking lots they would fall into holes and never be seen again.. Perhaps they can come up with 4x4 roller skates)

Its very hard to change a reputation, in the trucking industry almost impossible to change a reputation.. They work hard at their sales and offer respectful prices and services they could make it.... They could do things like 1 free movie with the service and so on.. Again its not impossible but they have a hard road ahead of them..

I continue to hear drivers saying how idle air costs too much. the boss gives us our fees back(including internet) because its still cheaper than a motel and #### sure cheaper than running the truck. there is some outlay at first, but made it back the first two times I used it. the company drivers say"I don,t care,I don,t pay for the fuel" Well, I,m a company driver as well, but the money that gets spent on fuel can,t get into my pocket. think about it and do the math.

You are lucky. All of the companies I worked for would not pay for it. The one time, it smelled strongly of cigarettes. Not my interest to pay for someone's smoke.
