So this evening I got a call from the boss, turns out they need help in Pittsburgh out in the chain and transit division. So next week or even possibly end of this week I'll be shipping out to Pittsburgh to the warehouse to work in the 50ft division most likely doing chain routes going out for 1-2-3 days. Pays good cashola though. So if any of you guys out in Pittsburgh and area's south see me wave hello. Most likely I'll be pulling a 50ft although I might be doing some doubles work you never know. Call came in from the road boss out at the warehouse to my boss at the drop yard, so I'm out here getting the full experience taking it all in.

Dumdriver, Pintlehook and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Well Mike, I figure it is one of two things. Either you are very GOOD and everybody wants you. OR you are very bad, and everybody wants to get rid of you!:p Which is it?;):D

And you have to get that off in one day???

That sounds like something other than "interesting".

Just curious - why the 50 footers instead of standard 48s or 53s?

I saw one this morning with the new logo and shish kabob graphic. Made me do a Homer Simpson: "mmmm...shish kabobs..."

I'm sure Mike will be along to explain in full detail, but I think GFS's "Chain" runs are 2 or 3 days long.

@Mike2633 You'll be practically in my backyard, I can recommend some cool places to go if you have any free time.

Any time I pulled reefers they were always referred to as just the length of the box itself, so I'm pretty sure they're actual 50' trailers. I've seen 50' spread axle reefers where the wheels were located the same as a 48, but with two feet extra overhanging. I just wish I knew why!
