I just started playing with the editing tool from windows called "movie maker". its a free download but is tempermental with occassional desire to freeze up.
I shot my stuff with a digital camera with video capability, then used my HP photosmart (came with my compaq) to crop the video clips to manageable lengths.
On youtube look for texalot - he does some great stuff with much longer lengths and could advise you.
I have lots of videos uploaded onto youtube but they are strictly 4 straight minutes captured in one shot with the radio music in the background.
For editing, Movie Maker lets you add music, and drag and drop photos and or video clips into a story board. There are other features that I am still learning that help with time management (if you want a photo to link to a lyric for instance) such as stretching the 5 second photo display to 7 and a half or speeding it up to last only 2 and a half seconds. Fades, zooms, etc, its pretty cool and not too hard to learn. Audio is tricky, I could turn down the music to hear the dialogue captured on video (such as the mc pronouncing it "Killin' texas") but that would be across the whole piece, not just that clip, so I tried to find a middle ground between the Willie song and the background audio.
You can also add the title pages and I haven't yet figured out how to put subtitles or captions on individual photos.
It is VERY time consuming, even that short 3 1/2 minute piece, when it comes to making editing choices such as clipping video bits, placement of photos (all of which I had to resize from the original files), and matching to the soundtrack.

find "texalot" on youtube, he also did a much longer piece (done the day after I was there) with more, longer, and closer views of some of the trucks.

LOL, as I told the others, check for "texalot" on youtube, he has some great trucking stuff and he did a longer video the day after I was in Dallas. As I told him I had to decide among three things when chosing subjects to film and photograph
    A) the trucks
    B) the prize giveaways or
    C) what I would have called "The Girls of G.A.T.S."
(I kept some of those photos to myself, LOL!)bb.
