I believe the one you hit going from Montana to Denver is a combination Montana/Wyoming Port of Entry. Nice folks I never had a problem with. Just checking registration and IFTA.

Setup under the guise of "safety", they are state revenue generators that work, for the most part, on a Russian Roullete or Eenie Meenie Minee Moe process, safety is not a factor. Just read the signs and don't do 2mph when it says "don't stop on scales 12mph"Last edited: Aug 17, 2016

I blew by the TN coops on 65 at northern state line EVERYDAY, never a worry. Never.
And sometimes the KY northbound coop on 65 just getting into KY. If someone else passed it and there was a line, f it. Never a worry, NEVER. -
Weight stations are used to generate revenue for the States. Just as most Police, Sheriffs and Highway Patrol, the main function is to generate revenue for their State, county or city.walstib Thanks this.

Hostile? Who cares, they f'd up, not you. If they get hostile, laugh and remind them of that.

Read some of the CSA reports for any just about any company, vehicle maintenance violations far exceed any other type of violation. Log book violations are relatively rare.
As such consider a weight station the DOT checkpoint for all trucking rules. They are profiling a truck, driver, and company as the truck rolls by the weight station. If your overweight, you just wrote an invitation for a though driver and truck inspection.
