Ya guys I was still tracked with the trailer when the Qualcomm was down. Only thing was when I had my 36 hour restart (in Canada is 36 hours not 34) I was able to leave my trailer at the truck stop and bobtail around town.

About the Qualcomm. It wasn't anything to do with Equipment. The qualcomm address is Schneiders computer system got reverted back to the old blackbox address that was in this truck before. Instead of taking 30 seconds to maybe listen to me and look at the qualcomm the jerk in Carlisle immediately said he couldn't touch it because its a Canadian truck. It's complete B/S. Even our mechanic at the OC here in Canada wouldn't give me the time of day. Finally when I went to get the truck written up for the weekend the estimator first thing he did was check the address and took him about 30 seconds to fix it.

Anyways I am down in Roanoke, VA for the 3rd time in 3 weeks without a load :# Take Care :D

Well tell us all you know about what you are going to be doing as far as: what board / account...region...where you are training.

Come up with a ton of questions and ask them at once, lol.

    Baack Thanks this.

Im honestly not sure about this. I think they try to hire within a certain radius of the Operating Centers so that you can park the truck there. Otherwise they MIGHT let you park at a truck stop or something.

Since my route starts in the town I live in, I just park at the local mall. I used to park at the Flying J...but Im not a fan of parking around other trucks (not too confident in my 'backing in between two trucks' manuevers). That and I know I will always have a spot at the mall.

Im assuming SNI has an account with them at that particular distribution center?
If thats the case, they (wal mart) might allow that, Im not sure. I know CR England has a contract with Walmarts DC in Wyoming and I see a ton of tractors parked there, so they might allow it down there. If you drive past and see some tractors parked there, they might allow it.

However, keep in mind that SNI is also getting more into tractor sharing. A parked truck is a truck that isn't making them money so they are more likely to have you share a tractor with another driver if its going to be at a place like a wal mart DC.

I'm not with the company... but I have done a lot of research about schneider and talked to many drivers. From what I understand they normally do not let you take a truck home, but if you live outside an OC atleast 150 miles, and not under a load they may approve it.

They normally won't hire people outside their OC zones, and they're pretty strict about the 150 mile rule.

I've pretty much decided I'm going to take the jump into driving. I've been on this site over a year reading, reading, and getting trouble, and reading... I think it's about time I do it. I'm heading to a Schneider job fair on Wednesday to get some face to face info from the company. My contract where I work now ends in December, so maybe by spring I'll be on the road.

OC is Operations Center, or terminal.
