What a shame...I hate to see that. I knew a guy that owned a numbered 86 359. The guys dad was restoring the truck from bottom up. Dad ends up passing and the son sold the truck for scrap. The truck had a cat rebuilt 3406b with new drive train. I personally knew of 3 people that attempted to buy that truck for a good amount of money. The son was such a butthole he sold it for 1500 to a local scrapper

I bet the scrapper turned around and flipped the truck, as is, for a profit.rachi Thanks this.
-
No unfortunately......it went straight to the scrap yard. Couple of guys went down to look and the scrapper started with the chassis and a torch. The scrap yard sold the motor in less than 3 days. They knew what the motor was but said that the truck came in pieces a bit at the time. I believe that the truck was numbered in the low 300s

I get where he was coming from. I will cut up my dad's kw before anyone else drives it. Some things are more important than money.

This wasn't the case. The guy was an severe a hole. I know he was offered a lil above market value and he wanted twice that. His pockets were pretty deep so it's believed this was done for spite. I hate to see old trucks go to the scrap yard like that. I know rebuilding a old truck takes money and is a labor of love. I put some cash into my 359 but itll outlast anything on the road and has so for 30yrs. If I can help it I would never have a truck newer than a early 90s model. I have an older friend in his 60's that has a 76 bicentennial 359. 1 of 2 sold in Raliegh that year. I want that truck lol. He's shot a price but ain't ready to part with it. He bought it new. It just sits there waiting for me to come and get it lol. Within a 3 mile radius there is 2 900a kw, several 359, and old auto car and a running 63 pete lol just hanging out behind the barn

They were cutting the cab off with a torch when i was leaving. Its a sad deal man. This truck was very clean considering its age. Original paint. Motor and trans in it. Clutch felt good. Interior could have been cleaned and looking dern near new. The old fella that owned it still had his little bed made up in it. It was obviously made up for years. That hurt my heart.
slickWillie1980 Thanks this. -
That truck would've made someone a nice toy/camper puller.
