They come preprogrammed.

Are you sure, I was told by the seller that I would have to get it programed to my VIN number, and ECU. I paid $530.00 for this piece of plastic, and really don't want to burn it up. I would think it would be simple to install it and it would read everything off the existing ECU.
-
It should be ready to go. There is nothing to do with programming that would burn it up if you install it unless you have a problem in YOUR wiring which might be why you are replacing that one.
-
I damaged the other dash cluster by doing something stupid, which we will not discuss at this time. There is nothing wrong with the wiring. I am putting into a 2009 Volvo VNL 670. So you are saying if I hook it up it should pick up the information from the ECU

Since you left us with absolutely no information about your truck at all, I had to assume you were installing a cluster for a Prostar. Next time you need some help, give us the make, model, year and what engine you have. Believe it or not, trucks are NOT the same and we are not mind readers!!!
-
I believe I did , if you look at the post before yours, you will see I put 2009 Volvo VNL. It has an ISX CM 871
-
You had no information at all in your original post. This is your original post, -"How do you program a new dash cluster (speedometer, Tach, Air, Oil temp, Water temp, and computer)" Remember? Then I responded, then you included more information in your SECOND post! What I am saying is, please include truck information in the first post. That way we can constructively help you the best we can without having to dig for more information or give you useless information.
