I've never had one, but I think it's a sun visor.
-
Windshield visors were originally for reducing glare on flat windshields. On newer trucks with large curved windshields they just act as a fixed sunvisor.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
yes, if someone were to jump off an overpass, that would deflect thier body either up and over the cab, or into the hood, instead of the windshield, killing you.Stormy 69 Thanks this.
-
I think mainly for "looks". Those more interested in fuel economy omit them it seems. Otherwise I see no real benefit as far as vision improvement on the typical fleet truck with large, curved windshields.
-
On new trucks it is a vital part of the aerodynamics if equipped.
-
I hope your joking. That piece of plastic and a couple of screws aren't going to deflect a human body falling anywhere.tucker Thanks this.
-
it for the bull haulers so can lower their seats and look between the steering wheel
Kyle G. and AbbandonZK Thank this. -
Gullible aren't we?David_Simpson and 1johnb Thank this.

my former truck had factory painted metal visor. i think deflecting a human is very, highly possible.
can't say it'll deflect a deer though, or even a VW bug.?
