Rather than rant and rave Ill just post a few facts.. Ill never be happy until Im king of my own kingdom and I plan to post on how I see big opportunity as an owner operator even in the face of these fuel prices.. but as to McIlvaine.. old trucks (I drove an 02 Columbia) with NO frills.. not even tilt and telescope.. will sit your ### in New England states and expect you to just "find a place close" to wait for dispatch.. Worst of all these turkeys are holding my last TWO checks.. did the right thing and took their piece of crap truck back to terminal in Wooster Oh (even loaded it for em).. take 3 weeks to get your initial check.. BTW.. Illegal in Ohio to hold your "last" check for more than 14 days and cannot withold what can bot be documented.. these guys are holding TWO checks.. pissin me off and puttin me in a bind..

We went thru a similiar thing with a company was lease to and we had a rough time for awhile. This happened in March and it took until May to come out of it. They sure want their money and loads on time but don't think the drivers need theirs.

I went to orientation for MCILVAINE Trucking in Wooster,OH in June 2008. I got wind from the clerk at the hotel that they always had trouble getting them to pay the bill for the rooms they rent for the orientation guys, she gave me a bad feeling about them. I stayed all the way to when they gave me my cell phone(they dispatch by the cell phone) and issued me my truck. When I looked at my truck I followed my gut feeling and went back home! They have older freightliners for the most part the greater part of the fleet is from 1995 with some old jb hunt tractors that are thier new trucks with a million miles on them. A new truck for them is a 02 or 03 with a million miles. I also found out while I was there they had turned over office personel recently as well as laid off 3 mechanics one from each shift didnt make sense when they have such an old fleet, and I was told all the "newer trucks" they had were broken down waiting repair so all they had was the truck they presented to me for now. Also they had told me it would be 3 weeks for my first pay check. All of this put together painted a picture to me of a rip off and or a co getting ready to close its doors. Warning to all I would stay clear.
