I hire a lot of guys with not so good pasts. Here is my advice for whatever it is worth. There are two things that could possibly be a problem. The first is your drug charge. Depending on exactly how old it is it may or may not hurt you. The second is the how long you have been clean. Some companies test hair not urine so it could still come up positive.
My only other concern who be for you personally. Kicking heroin and staying clean is almost impossible without a good support system. It is very stessful and it would be really easy to fall back into old habits. I have been clean for 24 years and it is only because of the awesome people around me. There have been a few times over the years that I just wanted to say #### it.
If this is what you really want to do good luck to you. I really do wish you the best.

To a lot of us the road is less stressful and an easier life than being home.
Just thought I should point that out. By no means do I think my brother could remain without AA and his sponsors, but I also don't see being OTR as a death sentence for this man.
Always maintain near constant contact with your sponsors. Go to meetings via webcam or speakerphone or whatever it takes. 5 years clean and my brother still goes to meetings every other day if not daily. Helping others helps him remember why his journey is so important, your sponsors will not be annoyed.TequilaSunrise, MidWest_MacDaddy, Waggledaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -

Some companies actually do search social media websites looking for dirt. Don't tell them anything.

Here is where it gets sticky.....knowingly attempting to falsify the medical card....willfully and with intention to deceive.

You answer it honestly and provide the relevant details to your "YES" answer.
A lie is a very short term fix; one you will be running from for years. You don't need that kind of stress.
If this is going to disqualify you - it won't be forever. Just a bump in the road. Move on and get work where you can. Time is your friend - this can still be a goal for your future if it can't be a reality today. -
Thank you all for everything. This thread has really helped me & it's been very interesting.
