I think I would take just about any job at this point. Intermodal p&d. Heck I'd even take a huge paycut until my record is clear.
I'd even consider hauling fuel over seas in the Middle East (well maybe not that desperate)
Guess my plan for now is to apply everywhere. The million plus miles I've had always catches employers attention. I just can't seem to find insurance. Maybe I'll have to try the prairies ?
I've been fortunate to find employment to keep a roof over my head in the mean time. Loading and parking trailers. But yard shunting is almot a cruel tease, knowing that the road is right there. So close yet so far.
Hoping to hear from someone who has been through a similar situation that may be able to shed some light on this situation.
1 year since "over .80" conviction

Are you forgetting?
You say .80, which is 10 times the legal limit in the US at .08, .04 for cdl drivers.
At .80 you would not be alive. Twice..KillingTime Thanks this. -
Sry my bad. It's .080 not 800 milligrams. But I think you knew what I was getting at lol.
Same limit here in Canada. .08 is a criminal code conviction.tucker Thanks this. -
Maybe not .....

Sorry about your dui. By all accounts I should have at least 4 or 5. Got lucky.Edorthtrucking Thanks this. -
.08 is almost sober, what a dumb cop.
There's a tavern 3 blocks from where I live, I walk to it instead of riding a bicycle. -
It's definitely risky business. Taxi is so much cheaper in the end. Worst part I find is. You pay the fine do everything the criminal code conviction requires , take your suspension and then finally get your license back. Prove to the province you can operate a vehicle without drinking by I stalling an ignition interlock. And when it's all said and done the insurance company's rape you over the coals for another 6 years. A e bike ride is looked at by the law the same as driving a car absolutely smashed and wrapping it around a tree.
But I guess it'll learn me. Never again. Not even a chance I'll ever drive anything after drinking. I won't even cut my grass with a push mower after a beer lolBlackshack46 and austinmike Thank this. -

.08 on a bicycle? Thank god that cop got you off the road. What if you'd have smashed into a school bus full of old ladies in wheelchairs? They might have had heart conditions and could have died from the laughter.
KillingTime, Blackshack46 and Edorthtrucking Thank this. -
Black-out stupid, I mean drunk, drunk!
.91 Jeez, his blood was #### near saturated. Bet that truck didn't hurt a bit! -
I can add my $0.02 OP, but I'm from a different Province, so my advice may not apply to Ontario.
Nonetheless, first off people must understand that a motorized vehicle in Canada is anything that can move under its own mechanical power. It doesn't matter where you operate it. The only exception to this would be an area not accessible to the general public. Caught driving/riding anything with a motor/engine drunk, and the same laws can be applied. Riding a simple pedal bicycle or a horse is NOT a motorized vehicle, and as such you can be drunk on these without repercussion.
That being said, I would say keep applying everywhere. As much as a company may not want to take you on, nonetheless you are still licensed to operate commercial vehicles, and they can technically hire you, even though they may not want to.
Here is where I stress that's it's very important to never burn too many bridges in this industry.
I have gone back to work for two of my previous employers when my thing was slow. I could only do this because I left under desirable circumstances. That, and I'm a pretty #### good driver.
I have had the same issue as you, OP, in the past. I did get turned away from a few companies. One hired me on.
Just keep applying. You may have to settle for less than desirable work until your abstract is clean, but you will find work if you just keep trying. Trust me... I've been there, done that!
