    It's funny how they all sing the same song about "high fuel prices, weak freight, tight credit", when they go out. We had a big one here in Jersey, fold recently...Jevic Transportation and their tune was the same.

    I'm not sure how many drivers are affected, but according to Priority's site:

    Priority operates more than 1,100 tractors, 2,100 dry vans, 545 reefer trailers, and continues to add capacity in the markets it serves.

    Jevic Transportation lost the farm too?!
    WoW!
    The way things are goin', I'm thinkin' they won't be the last to go under either.
    Many years ago, I heard one of the larger truckin' companies predict that one day, there would only be five to seven major carriers still in business and doin' ALL the business. Looks as though they might have been correct.

    Sad, isn't it?

    Thanx for the info.
    Much appreciated. :salute:

    According to the qualcomm message my hubby got this morning (he drives for Celadon), Celadon is picking up CW Johnson and Priority accounts, but is not picking up any of the equipment or drivers.

    Probably not.:biggrin_25526::biggrin_25525:

    My hubby also found out recently that they will be adding those incident cams to the trucks. Also, their fleet is going to be changed over to the Eagles within three years.

    My husband was one of the drivers that got left high and dry by Priority. He says that there are around 700 drivers. The morning that this was announced they were even doing orientation.

    Needless to say, my husband is not a happy camper right now. He has been with Priority for about 1 1/2 yrs. We had no major complaints with the company and he had an awesome dispatcher. Everyone in the company including all office personal was let go. They were all offered to re-apply with Celadon, but to our knowledge we don't know anyone that did.

    His dispatcher was able to get him a load to Denver, so that he could then come home to unload his truck and then he will take a load and the truck back to Chesterton IN and at that point he will be given either a bus or train ticket home.

    So I guess it is back to the drawing board for us.....

    I am very sorry about your husbands loss of employment, Sadly he isn't the first nor will he be the last.

    I think this industry is heading for a reckoning pretty soon what with the bottom feeders that have cut rates so far that they are starting to fold and then the brokers scamming owner/operators and withholding fuel surcharges and taking 50% of the gross for sitting in front of a computer .

    then add the fact that the states are increasing truck inspections and nit picking trucks to death and increasing fines to fill state coffers

    don't forget the huge increases we have seen on tolls and even worse to come .

    lest we forget the emissions issue starting with the crazies in California and rapidly that insanity is heading east

    these issues and many more are tearing this business apart,something is going to have to give.

    Something caught my eye yesterday, it was a newspaper ad for this company, the URL still works, as well.

    GOOGLE Priority Trucking

    It's just that the website/homepage is so upbeat.

    We are definitely living in interesting times.:biggrin_2555:

    I sincerely wish the circumstances were better for your husband and you, but please allow me to give y'all a warm
    W E L C O M E to The Truckers' Report. :hello2::wav:

    At least SOME good has happened. You're here. And I think you'll find this site to contain valuable information about other potential trucking companies your husband might be interested in seeking employment with.

    If y'all haven't already, spend some time with us researching the various threads containing a wealth of information. Ask questions of the many posters here who are known to be helpful and happy to share their knowledge and experience in the trucking industry.

    In between your research, join us in the Games Section to relax and unwind a tad. I think you'll find this site to be filled with friendly folks who'll understand if you feel the need to vent your frustrations from time to time.

    Please keep us informed as to how y'all are doing? :biggrin_25519:

    Thank you for the warm welcome!!

    I have to admit it is nice to be able to find a spot where I can research some things for him before he gets home. I will have to check out the game section that is for sure. With the kids now going back to school, I could use some fun.

    I will for sure keep everyone informed as to how things turn out with us, and if we hear anything else.

    I do have a question though that someone might know the answer to...
    He is going to apply for unemployment... we live in Colorado and he was of course based out of the Chesterton Office in IN. Does anyone know what state he needs to apply in? I have tried to get ahold of someone at the office, but no answer.... We are thinking CO, since that is where we live, but not sure.. any help on that would be wonderful. :)
