Hi, Just would like to talk to someone that has worked with CRST Van Expedited and leased a truck from them and trained students. Im thinking of doing this to keep the truck rolling in order to bump my pay up. Its only temporary until I get the money I need to pay off some bills. 6 or 8 months top. Since they have a walk away policy and no lease contract, I thought it would be safe to test the waters. I have a friend that used to do it and said he made good money as long as the student was half way decent. If they werent, he would kick them off the truck and pick up another one. Any thoughts on the matter? I could use some advice here. Thanks, Steve:blah5: :smt110

yea i have a thought but more of a concern, your friend didnt just kick the student off the truck thats not up to him only the dm can do that,, and if he did do it, why isnt he fired? if not fired, if i were the student i would have beat his ##* and took his truck cuz thats b/s leavin someone and i dont care who.. far from home in the middle of nowwhere thats just B/S. he was no professional driver at all. im sorry no offense to you, and yes they have a walk away lease and no contract and you can do this after 6 months with them, student ect.. have to wait until after their 8 month contract if crst (sponsored their training)

i lease a truck from crst for the last 14 months and have trained 4 or 5 students then my wife came back to drive with me if u treat the students like u would like to be treated then u should not have a problem if u treat them like your friend then u will not make much money because the first week u have to shutdown at night u are a trainer that is your job they do not know how everything works that is why they are call students we all have to start somewhere i was treated like crap by my first lead then he went home got my second lead and he was great i told myself that if i ever train that i would treat students with respect and like i would like to be treated
back to your question yes u can make your pay go up because as a solo u can not run out west if u have a student in your truck u can the wife and i just ran a load from \ca. to ny now i donot like going to ny but i took this load $4300.00/ u get 70%
3000.00 plus we got 1644.00 in fuel surcharge now if u us more than the 1644 in fuel
that will come out if the 3000.00 we used 1800 in fuel so 160 comes out of the 3000 it took us 52 hours now the load was 10,000 pounds that makes a big diff. in the fuel if the load was 40,000 u are going to us more so we made about 2500.00 dollars on the load that was the second load of the week so truck and all permits were paid out of first load of week now u pay .11cpm into a maintance so that will come out of the 3000.00 crst pays the student they have changed it a but a year ago that they charge the o/o .06 cpm to help pay the student but if u add it up to have someone help u make that kind of money it is a pretty good deal
just remember it is your truck they will grind gears they will trust me that is ok u have a maintance agreement if something breaks get it fixxed u just have to stress that we i said we will not roll the truck or fall asleep if get out and help them back i never back when the student is up i know how to back give them time if they can not do it then u get in an show them don't yell at themthat only causes problems only u can make it work toward your bank account
there is a lot to learn ask questions if u are at a truck stop and see an o/o with crst ask that is what i did drove co. crst for 2 yrs then switched over
will be happy to help answer any questions u have
do u drive for crst now?
