I've been the poor schmuck getting $12/hr through a temp agency. Day cab flatbed, all I had to do was strap, drive, and unstrap. On the upside, they worked around my college schedule. And production work in factories in that area paid just a hair over minimum wage.

$15.00/ hour with time and a half after 40?
That's about what our new drivers start at. With all the OT plus bonuses, they make about $50,000 their first year. After 6 years, I'm at over $70,000. Not bad for a local job I think. We haul 100% haz mat

    tman78 Thanks this.

A new car is pretty much the same all over the country and the average new car is around $33k and the average home price is around $200k in AZ.

I had a 1500 sq ft, 3 bed/2 bath house with a 27x34' attached HEATED garage, 2 pickup trucks, and a motorcycle. Went out whenever I wanted, bought everything I needed, and ALWAYS had money in my pocket. I was only getting paid $12/hour at the time. That's right here in middle-America...just east of the Ozarks.

Time and a half after 40 wasn't mentioned in the OP. With a busy opertation it could make a sizable difference.

I forgot about that.Companies here don't pay OT like they once did but that was long before our economy took a dive.
