I have delivered to a Hutterite community, at Abbey Sask. Nice people, had lunch at noon with them, men sat on one side, women on other side, buffet style. Rang the bell, eating period started, when the bell rang again, lunch was over. Very little talking at meal.

I was guiding waterfowl hunts in the middle of nowhere in Alberta about ten years ago. We took our birds to the Hutterites to be processed. They did an excellent job for cheap. They would sell home made pickles, socks, etc to our clients. They had a blanket they were trying to sell for $250 to one of our hunters that they said they made. It was nice. He didn't buy it but almost did. Anyway when these hunters were finished we had to drive them several hours back to the airport at Calgary. While there we went to Walmart to get supplies and I kid you not they had a whole display of the exact same blankets for $19.99 - made in China.

I used to have to pick up lumber in KY from one of those Amish operations.
The bearded fellow would puff his cig and make me drive his ancient tractor with forks, cuz apparently he could own the ornery contraption, but wasn't allowed to drive it.
Rain, snow, mud, he'd puff away under shelter while watching me muscle that tractor.
I finally told him I had become Amish too and couldn't load the truck anymore.

Now I wanna watch that bowling movie with rubber man. Thanks op now I gotta look it up.

    XD

Amish are quirky ppl indeed. I had them build my big pole barn & Mexicans do the roof. Best building ever.
Zero problems ever after 15 years.

Friend was married to an Amish woman. She did the "Rumspringa" thing when she was 16, left her Amish roots in Ohio, went to Indianapolis,, decided she didn't like it, went to St. Louis, then on to K.C.. Refused to have sex until she met the right man. When he hooked up with her, she was a 22 yr old virgin, but she had read and seen her share of porn, mind you this was pre-internet. On the 4th date, she practically raped him, he showed up on Friday night take her out, she met him at the door in the skimpiest of teddies, she finally let him leave Monday morning. As he put it, she drained him dry. They were married for 17 yrs before she went home to her parents. They were still living in K.C., one of her best friends was killed in a carjacking, scared her so bad she refused to deal with the outside world.
