Historically Catholics created the use of the crucifix for worship a couple hundred years after Jesus death
So the pope being upset really means nothing
But you made a good point
I think the whole situation is a little funny -
I sure wouldn't have known about that sculpture had it not been for this. If I am not mistaken, that was used regularly by the Romans as a form of punishment.
I don't believe in any organized religion, so the opinion of the Pope doesn't mean much to me. I do believe in a higher being, but there have been too many atrocities committed in the name of religion over the centuries for me to take any of them seriously. -
Historically the romans used a large stake
