Why? It's one of those things that's just going to happen. I'm all for not giving up any more of our rights, but we already have agreed to pee on demand. What's the big deal about a pre employment hair snip?
I don't like hair tests because I feel they're not about safety, only about busting people. But we've already agreed to be tested at a moments notice. What's the difference. It's only a pre employment test. Not worth losing a good job over

Do you how to find a company that doesn't test hair? Seems like a lot of them do now.
-
Recent info is that CRE, CRST and JCT are urine only.
-
If you use the search feature you can probably find threads dealing with various other companies that do or do not hair test.

Actually you was told wrong. Any positive that is handled by a MRO is valid and will be on a record somewhere. As of the date of the positive this driver is out of service until they finish the return to duty process. Also at some point the FMCSA MRO positive database will come on line. Once this happens ANY FUTURE POSITIVES will be on a database that ALL companies that hire CDL drivers will be mandated to check. In this drivers case they had better hope they are not involved in any fatal accidents.
Edited to post this link. I don't know what the current status of this is today. This is from 2010.

Why do they ask anything ,to see if someone actually will tell fhe truth. Its a truck question among many others on the application.

I think a pee test is good enough. If a company feels it is necessary to go beyond that it most likely means they are going to be uptight about other things. I'm laid back and seek that in my employer. I mean we are already regulated to death in this industry. Plus I'm starting to get a bit thin on top and I'd like to keep what little I have left.
pattyj Thanks this. -
Never admit to have ever smoked pot. If you do, the company won't hire you.
Do you currently have a cdl or are you a cdl grad? -
Wonder what will happen when they finally legalize it.
