CRST you run teams until your contract obligation is fulfilled, then you have the option of solo or teams.
SRT is a coast to coast reefer outfit that does a lot of west coast turns.
US Express teams do ok financially, in fact they do real well. Solo drivers get stuck with unloading trucks and swapping out good long runs to teams.
Look at these options:
Jim Palmer Trucking
SRT
Celadon
CRST
Maverick Transportation (flatbed or glass division)
Jim Palmer Trucking has the nicest trucks.

Have you tried for a state grant for private cdl school?
Sometimes if your unemployed or under-employed, the state will pay for cdl school. Google : WIA Program South Carolina.
This way you can pick a company and choose one with the shortest training with a trainer before going solo. I think TransAm is only 10 days, but you can go longer if you request it. Plenty to choose from.
Millis Transfer in Eden,NC seems ok, but only runs Eastern states & Texas. Need $500.00 up front for that school.
