I'm not for or against anyone who signs up for something like this opportunity.
But statements like this blow my mind,
Let's be clear what "Contact Labor" is in reality. ANY O/O or L/O is contact labor regardless of who's freight you pull.
A carpenter installing door knobs at 5$ a piece is contract labor. The IRS accepts this and there is never any issue.
However, if this company did anything other than tell the drive where the load is and a date and time to deliver than your an employee not a contractor.
If you lease to a company they have to state "No Forced Dispatch" because not doing so would mean the O/O that leased on is really an employee.
There are so many industries where the line between employee or contract labor is almost a blur.
I agree this job is nothing anyone should consider, however I think to portrait 1099 jobs as something only illegals or the less than desirable individuals of society is a travesty.
I made #### good money doing contract labor back in the day my best day was 876$ for 8 hours work and my nail bags.
