Hair testing

Yes, it's a trick. They'll ask you that, and if you say no, they may ask you again 30 minutes later. If you crawfish on your first answer, then they'll know they have a pot smoker and a liar.

 

Did you take any cold medicine that week? If you took a med that contains ephedrine you will likely show dirty for amphetamines.

 

Why?

Because it is part of the process of elimination.

 

It's only used in certain medicines, you have to sign for it at pharmacies due to it's potential use as a precursor. That said, I had a random urine test not long after I took a medicine with ephedrine, didn't have any problems. (I took the ephedrine stuff intentionally... it works)

 

I have a friend who was hair tested on his 16th birthday. He had only smoked once, a couple puffs, on one day, around 1 month prior to the hair test. He passed the hair test with flying colors. So if you are saying that you only took a couple puffs, one time, in the last 6 months, you may be OK. (MAY BE) The hair test measures the point in the hair shaft when the individual had taken a large/significant quantity of a particular drug, or used a particular drug for an extended period of time. Hair tests are typically utilized in cases when the amount of time an individual used a particular illegal substance is needed. Urinalysis is more precise in determining metabolite levels in individuals whom are recent users of said drug. If you had only smoked once, it most-likely (MOST-LIKELY) will not register on your hair shaft as a measurable amount of time consuming the drug. I would however obviously advise against smoking if you plan to become a professional driver. & I have to say, this is ONE example. I cannot confirm that your hair will not produce a positive at some point in the shaft. Every body is different. & This goes for everyone: Please promise yourself to never put your driving career or your life/other's lives in jeopardy through use of drugs or alcohol.

 

Sure can do some serious "west coast turnarounds" with that ephedrine. Truck stops used to sell pint and half pint bottles of those pills.
