Back in the late 80-early 90s it seemed like Kansas was a big hole in the middle of the country. They sure have had lots of money go through that region the last few years. Western Kansas, eastern Colorado and Wyoming.

I like to see that. INDUSTRY means money.

I haven't been there in 10 years. I was out to Norfolk Nebraska a few years ago with an 18000 Manitowoc house that was a good trip. But that's as far west as I've been.

Today I seen a tow truck pass me by towing a car and the strap that goes around the tire was dangling on the street , one end attatched to the trailer and the other end with the hook dangling like he forgot to tighten it and all I can think of is, how can you not see that in your mirror especially because it was on the driver side, I'm always looking in my mirrors and you would think other people would as well, especially when hauling something.

Just about every time I've been on US83, I've been oversized. They route everyone in the area through there. They will have a couple stretches where they divide northbound and southbound for some reason, but for the most part you're sharing the road. @passingthru69 what's the name of that truckstop on i70 and 83 north of Oakley?

You never know maybe his mirrors were to dirty. I'm always amazed when I get in the other drivers truck or one of our dump trucks how dirty their mirrors are, you get a sun glare and you can't see anything. I have to have my windows and mirrors clean.

I remember a Blue Beacon truck wash and a truck stop but I don't remember anything about it.

That Mittens a TA franchise with the Beacon. This one is on 83 northwest of town.

    ...And jobs.

Unfortunately, the wrong KIND of jobs for idiots in high places though.

Yes, the one on 83 with the giant lot. It's the last place you can park a big load if you can't make Garden City. I've never stayed at the TA because it's off route for OSOW. The restaurant across the street is just okay...but because you can eat your food with an adult beverage, that's where we always ate. And never seen a cute waitress there either.
Now, that motel right to the north...that's one crappy motel. I walked into the lobby with a couple pilot cars to check room rates and it smelled like there was a toilet behind the desk, complete with buttflakes and no running water.
