Why let it bother you? They are having a bad day, don't let it ruin yours. Smile and be cheerful when they are being an ###. They will either lighten up, or their day gets worse. Either way, you win.

to get away from they're wives and to old to sit in the bar .lol -
I despise people who are miserable at their job and try and take it out on coworkers or customers. This isn't directed at the op but if you don't like where you work,go some other f ing place. I haul tanker and end dump with a pete 379 and I've only ever had one reciever who was just an unhappy human being. That being said just act professional and go about your business. There was one time tho when I was in telecommunications my boss and I stopped at a McDonald's for breakfast. The lady was texting, ignoring us and just flat out being rude. I tried to tell her they forgot my hash brown and she started huffing and puffing. I said excuse miss is your manager here. She replied she was the manager. So I proceeded to tell her she should pay more attention to her customers and not the darn cell phone. I said I came for breakfast and if I wanted an attitude I'd call my ex wife. That lady was pissed but my boss was laughing so hard he could hardly breathe lol

First let me say I'm the same color as you so
Don't take this personally.
You say your a 21 year old black male.
Do you dress like a thug or gangster.
You know baggy pants/ butt hanging out.
If so that might be a problem. It feeds
They're stereotype.
Race does matter. I've been warned on numerous times
By some of the companies that I've worked for too
Try and be nice at certain customers because they've
Had problems before when they send someone
Of color out there.
It's silly for anyone to say your treated no
Different than anybody else.
Don't believe me,turn on the CB, read the comments
Section of any story on google and see how many
Times you see the n- word.
The truth ain't always nice.
Gangster rap and the glorifying of the thug life
On television has made you a criminal in
Many eyes. That's all they see.
Your still young, your a threat, you scare some
Of them. It's not your fault. You just bear the
Consequences of what a 21 year old black
Man is portrayed on tv everyday.
You have to overcome that with hard work,
Many of us have done it.
I'm close to fifty now so I'm no longer a threat.
I'm too old to scare them anymore. Lol.Lepton1, Xzay, Diggler and 1 other person Thank this. -
By the way what does the type of truck you drive have to with anything. Just curious -
I was going to go here but didn't want it taken out of context.
To the OP
The way and manor that you speak along with the way you dress is very important. Granted with some it wouldn't matter if you walked in speaking in the most professional manor wearing a three piece.Lepton1, Western flyer and bzinger Thank this. -
I guess I shouldn't be showing up to shippers with my boxers showing and my NWA "**** Da Police" T shirt. I'll do better next time.
Seriously, I dress normal. A clean white T shirt, shorts/sweatpants and some regular adidas shell toe shoes.
I even talk with a "proper" california accent since thats where i was raised before I moved to Dallas.
My appearance and the way I talk/carry myself aren't a problemLepton1, austinmike and bzinger Thank this. -
Get used to it is about the best you can do. Most drivers don't realize the amount of idiots shippers and receivers deal with. How many can't speak or understand English, or fly off at the mouth at some dumb ### rule that the person checking you in didn't make just has to deal with. Some come in half ####ed already saying these people are idiots, when in truth tgey need to look in the mirror to find an idiot. What the 10 people before done to piss the person off shouldn't affect you but it does. In the same token there are just as many Wanna be rent a cops with an attitude the minute we roll up. Your not there to make friends or have a party get what you were sent to and roll. Nothing says you can't look them right in the face and very calmly ask who peed in your cheerios this morning
