I don't know all the legal details. But I saw it mentioned in another thread the fact that if you're a company driver, you don't have the authority to say you won't agree to a search of the truck. All the Trooper has to do is call your company and they'll say, go right ahead please search the truck.
crb Thanks this. -
That's interesting. So they were not really asking to search your truck, but just put the dog in and smell for drugs. I wouldn't have a problem with that. I just wouldn't want Troopers turning everything in the truck upside down. In order to really do a search of one of these sleeper trucks would be no small task and could create quite a mess. But they might only do that if a dog alerted on it.crb Thanks this.

If we can't even have cough syrup in the truck I would not put it past some overzealous DOT inspector to put a driver OOS for having rubbing alcohol in the truck.Last edited: Sep 6, 2016

...No your not putting that dog in my truck, they then had the dog go around on the outside to were I heard one officer say to the other did you see that
I was looking right at the dog and he din't sit or do anything out of the ordinary in my opinion. So then officer in charge told me to follow him in my truck now im being escorted to a wearhouse were they went in my truck unloaded my cargo and just did what they wanted.
At the end they of there search again the Officer in charge told me they knew I was hauling something illegal they just couldn't find it and let me go on my way.texasbbqbest, Chris50, Friday and 1 other person Thank this.
