In addition to the load you bounce to has enough in it to help reduce and or pay for enough of the dh cost

maybe stay away from posting what might have been, what could have been and just plain what wasn't.

you're gonna get ragged on regardless, might as well stop taking the bait.

See I did miss something, sorry. I was thinking the three runs would make up the bulk of the $10k (well two really).

Also anyone that knows me knows I hate DH. I wasn't advocating it. I figure DH into every run before I'll book it. With me having the facts now it seems you made the wise move.

Continue on FW. I'm sorry for the interruption.

I go place where people consider dead holes all the time. I just make sure i get paid good to go in. If i found okey load i take it if not not i go dead head where ever i can get good load no matter how far. And i pull dry van in spot market.

It costs way way more than that. First you need to add in wear and tear, Second since we have limited hours we can work you have to assume you are not making any revenue while driving those 9 hours. (Grant it with a team you can operate 24 hours a day).

Adding 500 miles to pretty much any load kills the rate. No way around that.

If you take an 80 cent load 500 miles to get to the next load say paying 2/mile for 1250 miles, you have 2900 total revenue or 1.66/mile. If you DH 500 miles to get to that $2 load, you have 2500 total revenue or 1.43/mile. I'll never understand running for free when you can generate revenue, even a little bit, and get to the same place.

Do you add those DH miles to your next load to determine what your rate really is or do you just ignore it? To what you really made per mile in a month, you should write down your starting odometer and ending at the end of the month and divide by total revenue. Is everybody else just ignoring the DH miles?
