Pc gps?

Copilot has an app for Windows. I haven't looked into it but I am pretty sure it's a paid app.

google for pc programs. There was one i checked out that was free. And i have copilot for both windows pc and android.

I used my cell phone as a bluetooth gps transmitter to the laptop. I was running windows 7. I don't know if that option is available for windows 10. Everytime i get my bluetooth working on both pc and laptop. An update downloads and knocks it back out again.So i haven't been able to make the services work.

 

Mapfactor i think was the one i used. Looks like it now downloads through the windows app store.

Navigator free is another that comes up.

 

Have a look at DeLorme mapping software,might be just what your looking for.This brings me to a few questions.
Does your laptop have built in gps radio,does it have a touch screen.
Do u need the software for routing or just locations,do you need TOPO maps,these are all things that would dictate as to what mapping software you would need to get.
Also for programs that are strictly Android there is a program available that will let you duel boot a Windows PC with Android.

 

I run Copilot. If you have an internal GPS in your laptop then its fine, otherwise you're burning cell data to make it work. I run it on a Samsung tablet and turn off the data, it forces it to run off of Satellite.

 

I don't quite understand what you are saying.CoPilot works on internal maps and needs a gps receiver for guidance functions.The only thing data can be used for is live traffic as cell data can't be used to access the sats so if the pc doesn't have a gps built in then you have to hook one up to it.
Or am I missing something here???

 

You're not missing anyting. Copilot does NOT use data unless it's for live traffic or the occasional weather for your destination.

I used copilot on my laptop using my sprint note2 as a bluetooth gps transmitter. That phone was UNACTIVATED. So it had no data signal to use. Only the gps signal.

I'm not sure as to laptops with gps radios. I haven't looked lately but so far i haven't found a laptop with gps built in. Last i looked was 2 years ago, though. And it seemed like most of the available plug in type units, required the software they came with. And those that didn't have software. Were sketchy as to whether they'd actually work.

 

The mixed reviews are probably people who had or have issues with any brand.

Copilot worked great for me for 6 years. People say to always backup plan or whatever and not trust 100% your gps but anytime i tried to outsmart copilot. I got in to trouble. So I stopped trying to outsmart it.

Set your parameters correctly and you can't go wrong for the price. Unless you want bells and whistles too. Then by all means buy the more expensive brand.
