Best truck for you to start out could be a Freightliner FLD model plenty of them in every J/yard so replacement parts are easy to find and truck lots, web site at face book for sale is full of them, if you are able to put a shiny pant job on it yourself you will be golden

Honestly, with over 33 years experience I just don't know why I continue to get on here and try to help those with an honest opinion that ask for help, only for them to take my advice as a personal insult when it doesn't fit what they want & hope to hear....Young fella, I wish you all the best, somehow I think you're gonna need it, good luck to you though.....

After re-reading my original post, I fail to see where I "bashed" you... Maybe you young guys today confuse "advice" and "bash", I don't know.....Anyway, like I said good luck to you.....

Apology accepted, as our Father forgives us, so must we forgive others.....I wish you all the best and again good luck to you....Like I said earlier, if you work at it, you can find a good older truck for a good price.....Heck, I got my latest '86 362 for $4,200 with a good running big cam IV....They are out there....

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I doubt you could buy the Volvo that cheap anyway. If it ran that would be a hell of a deal. Usually when they're that cheap they've got a seized up motor or a blown transmission and 10 bald tires. Decent runners are $10-12k minimum from what I've seen.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

IIRC 1999 is the magic number. Buy a truck that year or earlier and it will be exempt from mandatory e-logs. Older trucks in good condition are starting to command a premium.
