Driver you deserve newer equipment when you are learning, I don't know how close you live towards Jacksonville. I would take a drive and see the beautiful equipment . Trust us you deserve to be treated like a professional period.

Agreed, I don't think any professional driver should be handed a POS truck when working for a company that's making millions daily. I live in Middleburg, not too far away.

I'll assume that since you have a A license, you have a clean background. However, to get a TWIC card, you need an FBI clearance or something at that level. Since youre in the Burg, take a day and go get yr TWIC card started. It takes about 2 weeks before you get it. Call them to confirm you bring all the needed credentials.
I got my chance by answering an ad on Craigslist. Turned out to be the best move I've made.

My background is good, I have passed federal background checks before as well as being certified in law enforcement so I'm not worried about that.

I know it's tough when first getting started in trucking, the first year is the hardest. Then after that the doors open up. Let me break down your training pay, for at least tree week with a trainer, 500.00 for driving 2400-2800 miles, 10:55 hours driving, 3 hours unloading or loading, then fueling.
    1. 500.00 _ 2600 = 5.2 cents per mile.
    2. 14 hrs a day
    3. Breakfast ,lunch , dinner 12.00 for each= 180.00 a week.
    4. 500.00 - 180.00 = 320.00
    5. This is why people get behind . Then are stuck working for Pos company.
    6. 70 hrs \ 320.= 4.75 dollars an hour.
    7. McDonald's drive through pays more.

    FireFighter_02 Thanks this.

FireFighter_02, bad news. I spoke to the guy that hired me a couple years ago. He told me that local companies want at least 18 months experience. Makes sense, insurance and all. Sorry if I got yr hopes up. My other friend drives for Cowan and does short haul (home every weekend). He's an O/O, so pay is different. But that may be a way to start. If not, Marten is a great company. Home every two weeks.

Try Averitt and get home every weekend. Or they may have LTL job open depends on where you are at. All autos if that matters.

How much experience do they want?
