JESUS!!!!!!!!!!! How many time will someone say to lug a MBN to 1200rpm???????? YOU DO NOT RUN A OLDER ENGINE LIKE THIS PERIOD! AT 1200rpm boost will be down to 20psi and egts will be up at 1200F*+ if thats how you suggest to operate an engine than good luck!

Yeah stay in top gear doing 40mph :biggrin_2551: im sure you will be picking up transmission parts off the highway.

If I let my MBN motor fall to 1200 rpm climbing a hill, I WILL have to get out and push to top that hill! My motor has NO power below 1300, nor above 1500! I have been told that is typical of the bridge motors.

550hpW900L,Your dead wrong, I 've ridden with 2 of Cat's Professional Test & Demo drivers with collectively over 60 years of driving and I stand by my statement!

    Have to login.

Im dead wrong in what? That you shouldnt lug it down to 1200rpm? Listen i have logged 70k miles in my truck being bone stock and i think i know how it performed, you dont lug a single turbo MBN motor that low. Just because you study this and that dont mean crap. Each trip, each load, will be different. If im dead wrong and all your info is correct than how come guys still get crap for millage with the acert even though they drive it like you tell em to?

    REAL WORLD HERE BUDDY!

Here is another link that you won't need a login for: https://ohe.cat.com/cda/files/418949/7/RightFromtheStart.wmv
Now keep in mind, this video refers to the ACERT products, but may be of use to others with the later products. Phil had the same pitch on older Cat's but, those older clips are no longer posted so you'll just have to take my word for it when I tell you the older MBN's CAN be lugged in a very similar manner. :biggrin_25519:

They can but SHOULD NOT, are 2 different things. First of all like i said, they have no power that low, exhaust temps are high and boost is low, were talking 1200*F which is an engine killer. 2nd of all will CAT warranty my transmission when eaton tells me im out of warranty due to driver abuse? Yes at 1200rpm that trans is taking a beating from the torque and vibration sent through it from the engine being lugged, that you can actually feel.

For some reason CATs tips dont work on the ACERT as nobody is getting any good millage out of them:biggrin_25512:, i know of 2 MI steel haulers that spec'd their ACERTs with 3.55s, well the steel business in MI went south and they started running west haulin a reefer..... Guess what? The company they leased to, Ever Fresh, had almost the same trucks with 3.25 gears, and the guys with the 3.55s got better millage every time.

I will take my "very short and limited experience" with these engines and apply it in the real world for real results, i dont need a computer program telling me how to do it and same goes for CAT, because in the end their results will always show great millage but it never works like that in the "real world"?........ Hmmmm why do you think that is? Oh yes so they can sell their product!

Oh yes one more thing, will CAT replace my rods and mains at 300k for driving it like that free of charge?

You said" 1200*F which is an engine killer".
If that's true then all the 2007 engines ( anybodys brand) should have short life cause they all have DPF's now that routinely get up to 1200 degrees just to regenerate themselves. Your other question as to Eaton warranting their transmission really has to do more with proper spec'ing. If the transmission is rated to handle the higest torque output of the engine, then yes, Eaton would cover a failure.
