Well I guess I will start here. I had some career changing things go on and decided to jump into the seat of a truck. I like driving and being on the road. I used my VA to go to school in Sacramento (Western Truck School). I got accepted and the VA approved the school.
WTS was great, they were very nice and helped out where ever they could. The only one complaint I had was with the Occupational Medical Group that I was sent to for the DOT physical. The Doctor or if you even want to call him that was very unprofessional. The ladies that took my height, weight and other tests were either just did not know what they were doing or just plain not care (I think it was both).
Basically they told me I was 5'6", 280lbs (I am 5'10", 260lbs). The doctor said I was extremely over weight and that I needed a sleep apnea test and that was it! I was like WTF! So after getting another opinion, I passed my physical with flying colors, had no sleep apnea and was told by the new doctor that it was not even a disqualification test unless i was previously diagnosed with it (which I am not).
I finished school and took the DMV test a month later and passed on my first try! THANK GOD!!! And now I start orientation on the 26th Sept with May Trucking out of Oregon, getting pretty excited
I am looking forward to this new adventure and see what the road has in store for me!

They haven't ask for one and it was done around the end of July 2016. it's within 45 days if that matters. And they didn't say anything about doing something like that for orientation. So I really dont know.

Some trucking companies accept your cdl school physical and some make you get a new one during orientation. Doesn't make sense to get another one during orientation.
Good luck in your new career; it's a great career!

Good to see fellow veterans on the site. I'm a disabled veteran rated by the VA right now but, I can still do everything I need to as far as getting around and stooping and whatnot. I even do weight training. When you got your CDL, did they ask about being rated as a disabled vet?

Just trying to see if it is an issue for when I go through my training. Speaking from one veteran to another. No worries.
