Which Cobra CB Set is the best to use when setting up a base station to talk to truckers on the road? I heard of Cobra 29 LTD OR Cobra 29 LX OR Colbra 29 SSB, but at the moment I do not know much about them. I have not used a CB since the 1965.
Which is the best Cobra CB to talk to truckers?

Why would it have to be cobra?

Your handle isn't Teddy Bear, is it?
Concorde Thanks this. -
What's a 29ssb , single side band??? If so I've never heard of a 29 with sideband unless it was added at a shop .
Anyway all the cobras are created equal as far as talking and listening goes , the only difference between models is bells and whistles -
I think the 2 best mobile radios to use as a base station are the Uniden grant Xl ssb, or the cobra 148 gtl ssb , both are built on the same board
mtoo Thanks this. -
I have a big old Midland 23 channel base station, with upper and lower sidebands.Bought it back in the 70's,haven't used it in years. When we first started using CB's in trucks, the two most popular were a Pace 2300 or a Johnson.I think they were both still made in the USA back then?

I use a Cobra 29 with nightwatch and weather band.

Uniden Grant Xl with an old telex turner roadking mic. Old school quality and class all the way.

29 Night watch with weather , except I have mine peaked and tuned. That is about all I need.
