    Me too.

Down the path of counting beans lies madness IMHO, unless you're paid hub miles that is. That might make it somewhat tolerable.

    Don't be a spelling critic.

I thought about this thread today, while driving westbound on I-10 west of San Antonio. Temperature in the mid 90's with an 80 mile an hour speed limit.

A kept it below 70 and paced along with the rest of truck traffic. Harry Inahurry blew my doors off, driving a long nose Pete pulling a reefer. He had to be doing all of the speed limit.

    Tweny miles later...

... well the good news is he didn't kill himself or anyone else.

The bad news is he won't be making much money today.

He managed to keep the shiny side up on a driver's side steer blowout, tiny scraps of cord and rubber everywhere a couple hundred yards from where he managed to get it on the shoulder. A deep gouge in the asphalt marked where his bumper dove down onto the ground at the very end.

If Mr. Inahurry is a company driver he doesn't get paid to be stupid. He's going to have to wait for a tow truck in the middle of nowhere, then sit in a seedy motel while the truck is in the shop.

If Inahurry is an owner operator he just blew a few thousand dollars: new rim, tire, and front fender at the least. Likely more extensive damage than that. Not to mention the cost of towing, lost revenue, and having to hire somebody else to deliver his load.

Truck tires are rated for 70 mph. I consider it to be a tad less than that when it gets hot.

It could have ended much worse.

I wish.I am fast but not that fast.I do ltl,2 pallets here, 4 pallets there.$50 a stop.had 4 stops within 4 miles radius in Laredo lol.$200 within 1.5 h and maybe 20 minutes of driving total.
    4420miles+stops+labor+detention+weekly bonus for being fast.
Spent $80 on tips though. If you want to be out quickly you need to slip Mexican guy $10 or $20 to motivate him.Like president said "you got to spread the wealth".lol.
Now you see,if I was creeping along @60 mph like some of you said I should I wouldn't be able to do another 1500+miles round trip to PA.

Hate to break the news to you Bucky. You are not good at producing revenue.
I WOULD NOT hire you for any reason, your postings provide a good record of what you can do to destroy a truck and cost a lot of money. It isn't about just the money you put into your pocket.

I have a couple drivers who are members here, we talked last night and they came to the same conclusion, you don't have a clue what it takes.

100% untrue. I'm a company driver and I'm making an hourly rate sitting here doing nothing. Of course, I'm in a specialized industry, but the compensation package for this job makes it well worth my while. You most certainly do not have to be running your balls off constantly to make money in this business.

Your situation does not make his comments "100% untrue". Its just untrue in your situation. But trust me, he's totally right in most other drivers situations.
