Stay with a company that trains in Indiana so you graduate with an Indiana CDL.

CRE has some awesome training videos. The ones on winter driving should be required watching for every CDL student.

Performance Food Group hires if you have a CDL permit. It will be like a team and you'll be the driver helper half of the team. I think they give you 2 months (60 days) to get the cdl.

Is it better to have an Indiana CDL? I have a Texas CDL and had a heart attack at age 43 from clogged arteries. I had to get 3 stints. Texas made me to wait 2 years before I could get my CDL back. Indiana requires you to wait 60 days.

If you are moved to indiana after about 30 days you need to get a indiana CDL. It;s easy peasy, stamp and stamp done. Oh and a eye test etc. Plus written etc.

You cannot fly on that texas CDL if you no longer live there.

Unfortunate to have Trainers with poor skills. Look for another Carrier that offers free training. (use the skills acquired)

If understanding backing is the problem I suggest you search for any of numerous truck parking games, especially the ones that show truck steer wheels movement. Concentrate on learning "if trailer is too far left, I need to do X". People will tell you various techniques like put your hand on bottom of steering wheel and push right to force trailer go go X. Those techniques can get all mixed together under the stress of backing. Try doing it with the online free games . When you see for yourself the relation between turning your steer tires full left & how trailer reacts it will mean more to you.

For clarity, I always refer to turning the steering wheel according to it's driving forward effects. If I say turn steering wheel left I know I mean turn it the direction that would cause truck to go left driving forward. When you reverse the same left steering input has opposite effect on trailer. When you are backing and not sure what correction needs to be applied stop and imagining driving forward from present position leaving the spot you want to get into. "I'm to far to the left (driver side). If I was driving AWAY from here I would pull forward and steer to LEFT causing trailer rear to swing RIGHT. Most drivers try to turn hard right as they pull forward, which cause trailer rear to go farther left.

The little games let you practice and see the effect of your front wheels on the trailer. When you are maneuvering while going forward, you run out of space but need more of the correction you were applying, remember to stop, reverse the wheel direction, and then back. Once you get the picture & understand that you reverse the steering input when switching between forward & reverse you can move a trailer left and right without driving more than 1 tire rotation. Newbies always try to pull straight ahead AND steer toward where they want trailer rear to go. This is exactly wrong thing to do. It makes your problem worse. Trailer rear has to point at the spot you want it to go. Trailer rear pivots around the trailer tandems. If tractor goes right, trailer rear points left.

    That reminds me.

Muthatruckers is a PC based game. Simulation of trucking. Get that.

It's really accurate in backing up a bobtail to hook a trailer with mirrior view precisely what you see on the real world. Grab a trailer then work on it. You will get it.

It is very very very very rare I say anything about gaming as per real world but that is one idea. I have some simulations across the board and they are generally accurate. But might need a epic computer to run em as fast you can think.
