You knew going in it was going to be a problem. Why let anyone force you into something you dont wanna do? I understand you cant sleep when some other hack is driving you down the road. Im the same way. I've tried it but cant keep my mouth shut when the other is driving. Dumb ### listening to directions from a gps taking farm roads from deep south Tx to Portland. By the time I fell asleep from complete exhaustion i knew fella was gonna be working 6 to Provo UT. Was awoken by the top of my head and bottom of my feet slamming against the sleeper walls. Pissed the effff off.. I drove the rest of the time and not on a team schedule. Never again. Only Dad can drive when Im sleeping is my rule. Good luck.

For the rest of us ordinary folk who have paid or are currently paying the price to learn this job I offer this team driving with anyone you don't respect will be an ordeal. You can keep it simple by agreeing on the route and any stops on it. Pick your drive time if you can but at all cost let your co driver know that his life is as important to you as your own. sleeping in a moving truck is a lot harder when you're afraid.

Sleeping on a moving truck is something that takes a while to do. The first part is trusting your partner. The next part is being respected by your partner. However not everybody can do this. I know you stated you did not want to lose this job. If your company continues to put you in these situations and you feel it creates a dangerous situation YOU MUST do something to stop it. If your tired and hit and kill a motorist or another driver you are subject to be arrested for vehicular manslaughter and be put in prison.

Sleeping in a moving truck requires several things. Most of these is Trust. You are literally handing your life and your future to whoever is driving. If they screw it up.... there will be hell to pay. If not here in this life but surely on the other side.

You might be displaying a preexisting flaw in your health and body. If you are obese (I dont know you...) it can hurt you in some ways with those rolls constantly working in a moving truck. If you are fit and still tired, accept that there is some cost to sleeping in a moving truck however....

Don't try to sleep on that 3 inch foam on hard steel. Build a nest in that berth first. Two sleeping bags, several body length pillows and a number of large man big mexican blankets of strong weave. Throw all that in there. Jump in and literally nest But don't try to nest in the center. Go against that back bulkhead that way at least half of the forces acting on you will be absorbed.

If you are still tired while trying to drive and someone gets killed by your hand... you will NEVER ever sleep in prison. Never. THAT will break you mental health eventually. It happens to people in Prison.

Finally it takes a little time to get it. If you still cannot.. then trucking is not for you. Not that kind anyhow. You will want day cab work.

Just for the record if you don't think you can be arrested and face jail/prison for vehicular homicide/etc/etc take a look at these few news articles. Not saying these people had fallen asleep, just that they were involved in crashes.

    http://www.pe.com/articles/stop-776553-garcia-running.html

I don't have a million to put up as bail, do you?

The internet is full of these stories. Bottom line give up that job if it means you are driving tired!
