Hayseed.....
Freights slow right now. I wouldn't recommend bringing a truck on, especially if you have payments. Plus the slow season for flatbed is fast approaching.
I'm hoping next year will be much better after the election is over. I heard a news report recently that said many businesses are delaying projects until after the election (confirming what many drivers say about election year freight) so I'm hoping there's a stock pile of freight that's gonna get moved in 2017.Last edited: Sep 29, 2016
77fib77 Thanks this. -
But freight is slow everywhere at every company. No matter where he puts his truck on he will be facing slow freight. So no reason not to put his truck on here.Highway Sailor and RStewart Thank this.

How long will it take to get going if you show up at there door step to lease on
-
I wouldn't show up. I'd call them and ask them to email you an application. Takes about 3 to 5 days to approve you, and then they will set a date for orientation. They do orientation once a week i think.
Your first step should be to call their recruiting department and just ask how long is taking to get guys in cause that always fluctuates. -
I showed up on their door step back in 1989, it worked out good for me.
I would not suggest doing it. Way to many things can hold up the process. That's if you have truck and trailer. If you don't have trailer, don't even think of showing up on their door step.Klleetrucking Thanks this. -
I thought it was slow everywhere to until I left and found out different I have to turn down good paying freight now because I'm to busy.
-
So where are you at that has so much freight you are turning down good loads?
-
I pull for a company in Cincinnati

Caconway is correct. Basically all Mercer is doing now is sniping loads off of load boards or calling other brokers. In other words many of Mercer brokers work from home and just farm loads off the boards. This is how the rates get watered down so much. The funny part is Mercer charges you 26% to do this LOL. You can get your own authority (factor in your operating costs) and it will only cost you 6%.
You can do it yourself.
There is rare occasion where Mercer has a legit customer they found themselves. I want to use the word RARE!
I say get your own operating authority, get approved with some carriers, work with some brokers and pocket more cash instead of being pigeon holed with a in-house load board that is full of regurgitated freight off other load boards. -
And yet you are leased here. Must be a reason for that.
back street slider Thanks this.
