As far as I know, trucking company cdl schools require it for new first time drivers. Something to do with E-Verify to ensure the new cdl student/grad is in the country legally. They can order what's considered an "original" from the state or country where they were born.

Every state DOT will require an original birth certificate to obtain a CDL permit for training. I remember I only had the hospital issued certificate and had to have the state send me an official copy. They actually had an option for expediting the process for an additional fee. I almost missed the class because the DOT would not allow me to take the permit tests until I had that document in hand. That was 10 years ago, I could only imagine what they require today.
Florida Playboy and Chinatown Thank this. -
Graduated from First Class Truck Training in Tampa today. It was a great experience. The instructors are patient and knowledgeable. Extremely flexible schedule, come and go as you want seven days a week. I really can't recommend it enough if you live in the area. I got my permit and endorsements before enrolling and was in the truck, on the yard the first day. For the first 3 days I was the only student on the yard most of the time. A couple guys would come in for an hour or two. The second week there were 3 or 4 of us regularly. I know I got more practice time in 2 weeks than I would get anywhere else. Aced the examination. Very happy with experience there. Now I'll go learn how to really do it.

Which company are you going with?
-
Swift.
-
Teaming with your brother?
-
Yep. That's still the plan. I just had a few delays. Actually still not heading out until after Thanksgiving.
-
You and your brother still planning on R&L Carriers later?
TWT Refrigerated Service pays teams .60 cpm but not sure you're in the hiring area. They run teams 48 states. -
It's all up in the air for now. Swift is treating him very well and the teams he's talked to at his DC are happy and earning pretty well.

That's some good points. Making decent paychecks is what's important. Best wishes to you both.
Hometime is probably real good, running out of a DC.
